Manchester City could reportedly allow Bernardo Silva to leave in 2023 if they receive a club-record fee for the midfielder, with FC Barcelona still interested in signing the Portuguese international.

According to Mundo Deportivo, City’s position on the 28-year-old playmaker is softening, with the Premier League champions now leaning towards Silva leaving the club next year if they receive an offer that totals at €100m (£89m), a fee that would a record for the Manchester giants.

Silva has featured in every game for City this season with the former AS Monaco star bagging two goals and three assists as Pep Guardiola’s side look to once again reclaim the English title, with the UEFA Champions League also in their sights with Erling Haaland leading the line.

However, there is now a chance that Silva could leave the club in 2023, with Barcelona not ruling out a move to sign the midfielder in the January window if they’re able to get their finances in order once again. Moreover, the Catalan side will be looking to offload more players in the winter.

Whilst there still remains a small chance that Silva will leave City this season, Barcelona’s consistent interest and the Manchester’s side weakening stance could lead to a move next summer, where the 28-year-old will be in the prime of his career after six years in England.

Indeed, with City reportedly chasing Jude Bellingham, the Borussia Dortmund star’s move to the Etihad could be entirely funded by the sale of Silva, who will no doubt be pushing to sign for Barcelona in 2023 after months of speculation about the move.

Silva has been one of City’s best players in the past few seasons, yet with the midfielder’s dream to play for Barcelona, it seems like the Portuguese star will finally get his wish next year with City already looking at the future of their midfield.

Rumours over this transfer have been rife for years, yet now following this latest update, Silva, who was branded as ‘magnificent’ by Alan Shearer, finally looks set to head to Catalonia after nearly a year of speculation, with City set to financially benefit in a big way from such a deal.
