Swiss left-back has impressed club’s scouting team.
Manchester City’s scouting team have highlighted Swiss left-back Ricardo Rodriguez to new boss Pep Guardiola, who is now keeping close tabs on him, HITC Sport understands
Guardiola has given a list of positions with preferred targets to City’s hierarchy, with a left-back being one of their main areas of concern with neither Gael Clichy or Aleksandar Kolarov understood to have long-term futures at the club – indeed both have been linked with moves away.
Wolfsburg’s Ricardo Rodriguez in action
HITC Sport understands that Rodriguez was not on the initial list but after some glowing reports, Guardiola is now actively taking an interest in him after being impressed with what he has seen in recent weeks at Euro 2016.
The 23-year-old is being targeted by a host of clubs from across Europe including Arsenal, but now City are ready to join the bidding with the player telling his current club Wolfsburg he wants to leave this summer.
Bleacher Report UK also believes that Rodriguez is amongst the options for City at left-back.
