Dean Smith will now be preparing Aston Villa for the playoffs following their win against Millwall on Monday.

Mallory Edens has expressed her delight on Instagram after Aston Villa made history by securing 10 wins in a row following their 1-0 win against Millwall on Monday afternoon.
Villa’s co-owner Wes Edens was also in attendance [Birmingham Mail] with his daughter as they witnessed Jonathan Kodjia score the only goal of the game on a historic day.
After the match, Mallory was clearly delighted at her first visit to Villa Park as she posted these messages on her social media accounts.
Edens co-owner, Nassef Sawiris was also pictured at the match as was Villa’s chief executive Christian Purslow [Birmingham Mail], with all three men hoping to help the Midlands club to the Premier League.
At this moment in time, the playoffs are all but secured for Smith’s men, with the likelihood that they will come up against West Brom in the semi-finals.
Last season, Villa went all the way to Wembley, but they were beaten by Fulham, who have since suffered relegation back to the Championship.
As things stand, Leeds, West Brom, Villa or Derby are in those playoff spots, with Frank Lampard’s side battling it out with Bristol City and Middlesbrough for that final playoff place.
