Mallik Wilks admits making dream start at Accrington Stanley after leaving Leeds United

Leeds United allowed Mallik Wilks to join Accrington Stanley on loan during the summer transfer window.

Mallik Wilks has told Accrington Stanley’s official website that he has made the dream start to his time at the League Two club, following his loan move from Leeds United.

Wilks scored the winner for Stanley in their most recent match against Chesterfield, after coming off the substitutes’ bench to great impact.

The 18-year-old already has two goals to his name for Stanley, and Wilks claims that things could hardly be going better for him, since his move away from Leeds.

He said: “It’s amazing really, to come on and score the winner is brilliant. To get the equaliser at Notts County was great but to go and get all three points for the lads is even better.

“The travelling fans we’re brilliant again and it was nice to be able to share the moment and celebrate my goal with them. They made the effort to travel to Chesterfield and support us and it was important that we were able to repay them with the win.

“I’ve had a great start to my life at Accrington, it’s been the dream start and I hope it can continue.”

Wilks is still regarded very highly by Leeds’ coaching staff, who will be keeping a keen eye on his progress at League Two level.

Wilks has made just one senior appearance for the Whites to date, but his performances for Stanley are helping to raise his reputation.

The youngster could feature for Jon Coleman’s side tomorrow, when they take on Middlesbrough in the League Cup.

Leeds are also in action on Tuesday evening, when they take on Premier League side Burnley.
