Italian outlet CMW claims that AC Milan sporting director Paolo Maldini is battling Newcastle United and Chelsea to sign Villarreal attacker Arnaut Danjuma – a player Eddie Howe has signed before, during his stint as Bournemouth boss.
Danjuma, 25, has been superb for Villarreal. Joining the club from Bournemouth in 2019, the Netherlands ace has been on fire for Unai Emery’s side – scoring 16 goals in 34 games, and four assists. This term, his form is catching the eye.
Playing seven times for Villarreal, Danjuma has scored three times. Little surprise that interest is quickly increasing in the attacker. CMW report that Newcastle, Chelsea and Milan all want to land the versatile attacker ahead of January.
A player rated at £35million, Danjuma is easily afforded by the three clubs. Chelsea and Milan have Champions League football to offer, but Newcastle might have a trump card up their sleeve. That is, in the form of Toon manager Howe.
Maldini battling Newcastle and Chelsea to sign Danjuma, rated at £35m
Danjuma would be a wonderful signing. Yes, he struggled under Howe at Bournemouth. But after Howe’s exit and Bournemouth were relegated to the Championship, it saw Danjuma show why Bournemouth signed him to begin with.
His move to Spain has seen him prosper. Starring in a side that got to the Champions League semi-final last term, Danjuma is still scoring at a rate of one in two goals. At £35m, he would be a top signing for any of the three clubs.
Which club would be best for him? Well, Chelsea have lots of other stars like Danjuma and that may limit his game time. Milan too. But a move to the Toon, and a reunion with Howe, would surely get the best out of the Dutch star.
