Aston Villa have been praised on social media after the club donated their gate receipts from their 6-0 win against Barrow AFC to the League Two side.
The fourth-tier English side hosted the Villians in what was a thrashing for Barrow. Cameron Archer bagged a hat-trick as Dean Smith’s side ran riot against the Bluebirds.
It was a comfortable win for the Premier League side. However, Barrow announced on their official website that Villa had donated their share of the gate receipts to the League Two side.
Indeed, with sides in the top-flight often feeling isolated from those lower down in the football pyramid, Villa’s financial gesture was well-received by those at Barrow.
The club chairman Paul Hornby said on the gesture from Villa: “It’s just a wonderful gesture and we’re so grateful for their generosity.
“Despite the result, it was a fantastic occasion for everyone connected with Barrow and the revenue generated from it and this subsequent donation is crucial to the club.”

It was a decision that has seen Villa receive widespread praise from the footballing community. Moreover, supporters of the Villa Park club were proud of what their team had done.
