Tottenham Hotspur fans aren’t too happy with Nuno Espirito Santo’s comments on Harry Kane ahead of their EFL Cup clash against Wolves.
On Sunday, Spurs were thrashed 3-0 by Chelsea, with Kane starting out on the left, before moving make to his central role midway through the second half.
Nuno claimed in his pre-match press conference for the Wolves match: “We have to find a process inside of the team. It’s all the players. We have to find solutions and the best way.
“Previous game, Harry started on the left, really high and things went good. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to score.
“The way we are working is that we are trying to find solutions. Trying to reinvent and recreate situations that can improve our football, and Harry is part of the team.”
Spurs fans are fuming with what they are hearing from Nuno, in regards to Kane, and what he is trying with him.
Given that Kane was the Premier League’s top goalscorer last season, the fans want him where he punishes opposition players best.
Kane did drop deep under Jose Mourinho, but the big difference is that he still scored goals, and even added assists to his game.
He ended the campaign as the top marksman and assist-maker – the best season of his professional career, so far.
But Nuno seemingly wanting to ‘reinvent’ with Kane and this team isn’t sitting well with supporters.
And if the North London club are knocked out of the EFL Cup by Wolves tonight then the heat will only increase on the man in their dugout.
Whilst he won’t be in trouble yet, there is the little matter of the North London derby at the weekend.
Not just for Nuno, but Mikel Arteta as well, if these two managers end up on the losing side then they are going to get pelters from their fans.
Either way, Spurs fans just want to see Kane playing as a striker so he can do what he does best.
In the Premier League, he is yet to get off the mark, but he did net during the Europa Conference League, so perhaps that is a good sign for tonight, in regards to scoring in a cup competition.
