Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius has all-but ruled out a shock move to Wolverhampton Wanderers, telling Transfermarkt that he will only leave Anfield for a club willing to offer him guaranteed first-team football.
And when you consider that one of the finest shot-stoppers in the world is currently standing between the sticks at Molineux, Portugal international Rui Patricio, a summer switch to Molineux would more than likely leave Karius gathering dust on the bench.
Fanatik reported back in April that Wolves were set to offer £5 million for the German, who was on his way back to Liverpool after an ill-fated loan spell at Besiktas ended in acrimonious circumstances.
But while a move to one of the Premier League’s most exciting teams might have seemed like a great opportunity from an outside perspective, Karius knows that he has to play on a weekly basis if he is to rebuild his ailing reputation.
“Of course I have to play if I am going to change clubs. It makes no sense to say: ‘I’m leaving Liverpool for a worse club and I’m only number two there’,” said a man who once represented Manchester City at youth level.

“I am currently at the best club in the world, play for titles, have the highest level around me every day in training.
“I am fully aware that I am in a good position to be in Liverpool. I have great conditions there.”
With just 12 months remaining on his contract, Karius may not be offered the opportunity to fight for a place in Jurgen Klopp’s plans.
Liverpool will surely sell if an acceptable offer arrives, especially with Adrian confirming his desire to stay and provide competition for Alisson Becker at Anfield.
That is without mentioning the presence exciting youngsters Kamil Grabara and Caoimhin Kelleher, or veteran Andy Lonergan for that matter.
