Some Tottenham Hotspur fans believe Gareth Bale may be on the verge of retirement after his comments yesterday.
Bale came out and said that he knew exactly where his future lies after Tottenham’s 4-2 win over Leicester City, but he wouldn’t be announcing his actual plans as it would cause ‘chaos’ (Sky).
Quite what the winger meant was unclear, but some Tottenham fans feel that retirement is a genuine possibility.
If Bale did say that he was going to hang up his boots soon it definitely would be a shock.
The Tottenham wide-man proved his quality again yesterday, after bagging Spurs’ third and fourth goal in the contest.
Bale has impressed since being given more regular game time after Jose Mourinho’s departure.
The Welshman know sits third in Tottenham’s scoring charts, behind Kane and Son.
His retirement would be a huge surprise – but there may be some reason to believe it’s a possibility.
Bale has to be carefully managed through the season now, after struggling with injury.
Financially, he has also been on a huge deal at Real Madrid for multiple years.
But given his level of ability it would be a real shame to see him retire at the age of just 31.
