Liverpool fans have reacted on Twitter to the rumours that Adrian could start in goal against Preston on Wednesday evening.
Jurgen Klopp’s side will travel to Deepdale to take on the Championship side in the EFL and hoping to progress through to the next round.
The Liverpool Echo claim that Adrian is on standby to make his first appearance of the campaign, because second-choice keeper Caoimhin Kelleher is losing his race to be fit for tonight’s encounter.
Liverpool fans are slightly worried about the possibility that Adrian could start given that he has unnerved them on many occasions before.
After arriving on a free transfer in 2019, for large parts, the £58k-a-week player (Spotrac) has played second fiddle to Alisson Becker.
But the emergence of Kelleher, and Adrian’s very own poor form last season, then saw him drop down the goalkeeping list.
If Kelleher isn’t able to start against Preston, then Liverpool fans have asked why teenager Marcelo Pitaluga can’t be given a shot.
During Liverpool’s last round win against Norwich, a number of youngsters featured for the first time, including 17-year-old Kaide Gordon.
More than likely, more young guns will feature, so it probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to give Pitaluga a start because he is available.
