Frenkie de Jong has been linked with Chelsea and Manchester United, and now Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have been urged to join the race for the Barcelona midfielder.
The Daily Mail have reported that Chelsea and Manchester United want to sign De Jong from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old Netherlands international midfielder is in dispute with his club Barcelona over wages, according to the report, which has added that the race to his signature could go down to the wire.
According to David Thompson on Twitter, Liverpool owners, the Fenway Sports Group (FSG), should make a move for De Jong in the summer transfer window.
The former Liverpool midfielder believes that with Barcelona looking to sell the former Ajax star, FSG should try to make a deal happen.

Liverpool urged to sign Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona
Could a transfer happen?
In our view, Frenkie de Jong is unlikely to join Liverpool from Barcelona in the summer transfer window, especially with Chelsea reportedly keen on him.
Liverpool do not need to panic-buy, and although there are issues in the midfield department, we do not think that FSG are going to spend £60 million or £70 million player on a player so far in the summer transfer window.
There was speculation earlier this month that Chelsea are ready to pay £67.6 million in transfer fees to Barcelona for the Dutchman.
It is really hard to envisage FSG splashing that much cash on a midfielder now.
