Southampton’s Paulo Gazzaniga is closing on a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
If there was one non-Chelsea fan pleased to see Hugo Lloris make an uncharacteristic error for Tottenham on Sunday – it may have been imminent signing Paulo Gazzaniga.
The goalkeeper is on the verge of signing for Tottenham from Southampton, where he is set to deputise for Lloris.

Hugo Lloris is an undisputed first choice for Mauricio Pochettino, meaning Dutch international Michel Vorm sits on the bench.
Gazzaniga may not even see action in 2017/18 if he makes the move, given that last season’s third choice stopper Pau Lopez did not even make the bench.

Consequentially he is a bit of a perplexing signing especially as he has a track record of howlers worse than Lloris’ ‘gaffe’ at Wembley.
This hasn’t prevented Tottenham fans from joking about whether the Argentine could be about to usurp the France international from first team duty.
They even raised the possibility that Gazzaniga was due to be announced on Sunday evening, and Spurs had to push it back after Lloris’ error, to prevent it looking like a reaction to the Frenchman’s mistake…
