Chris Sutton has made a claim about Ange Postecoglou and Liverpool as Leeds consider a move for the Celtic tactician.

What’s the story?

Well – according to Sky Sports – Leeds have shortlisted the Australian as they look to replace Jesse Marsch.

Sutton feels Postecoglou will not leave Glasgow just yet, although he has warned Celtic to prepare for life after the 57-year-old, who he feels is capable of replacing Jürgen Klopp at Liverpool.

In the Daily Record, Sutton wrote: “If the German (Klopp) were to leave his post at Anfield tomorrow, I don’t think there are many who wouldn’t think Postecoglou could go into a club of that size and make an impact. He plays their attacking brand of football and has shown in Glasgow he can handle a big environment.”

In truth, the 49-year-old has a point.

Taking over at Celtic Park was a difficult task for Postecoglou, as the Bhoys needed a major revamp after allowing the squad to go stale under Neil Lennon.

Despite the daunting nature of the role, Postecoglou dealt with the issues admirably, dipping into the Japanese market to find gems such as Kyogo Furuhashi and Reo Hatate who have helped Celtic sit nine points ahead of Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Therefore, if the Celtic fan favourite does end up at Leeds – or Liverpool – one day, he has proven himself to be capable of living up to the huge expectations at both clubs.

Leeds won’t land Postecoglou

As Sutton states, Postecoglou won’t stay at Celtic forever, but for now, Leeds must look elsewhere.

The Scottish Sun believe Leeds will struggle to land the Australian, and it would be a major surprise if he ditched Celtic for a move to Elland Road right now.

Postecoglou seems to be loving life in Glasgow, and surely has no desire to anger the fanbase by following in the footsteps of Brendan Rodgers.

Be sure to keep an eye on the situation, as Leeds explore moves for Andoni Iraola and others to replace Marsch.
