Chris Sutton has described Filipe Jota’s injury as a ‘major worry’ for Ange Postecoglou with the Celtic winger likely to miss Sunday’s trip to Dundee United, via his Daily Record column.

Postecoglou was forced to replace Jota midway through the second-half as the Bhoys beat Hearts on Thursday night. The Portuguese ace pulled up clutching his hamstring during the Parkhead affair, as he made his 18th appearance this season.

Jota has started all of the Hoops’ fixtures since he arrived in Glasgow on loan from Benfica in August. He has also played the full 90-minutes on 11 occasions across all competitions.

Postecoglou admitted after Celtic beat Hearts, via the Glasgow Times, that Jota is a player who he wants to give a break. The Bhoys boss may now get that chance, but through injury.

The Australian coach played down the severity of the issue. Yet Jota will likely miss at least Celtic’s trip to Dundee United, and Sutton warns Postecoglou he must find other answers.

“The sight of Jota pulling up against Hearts with what appeared to be a hamstring injury is a major worry,” Sutton wrote.

“Jota’s going to be a huge loss. Hopefully he’s not out for long, as he’s been superb in the last few months and is a key attacking weapon.”

Postecoglou must find answers if injury keeps Jota from Celtic v Dundee United

Postecoglou will have to find answers to replace the key role Jota has offered in his Celtic attack if injury keeps the 22-year-old from featuring in some capacity at Dundee United.

Only Kyogo Furuhashi has outscored Jota for Celtic so far this season with 14 goals to the Portuguese’s eight. Only David Turnbull has also matched the forward’s team-high six assists, of which Jota has offered four in the Premiership.

Five of Jota’s goals have also come in the league and each have helped toward victories. His strikes in both meetings with Aberdeen also rounded and opened the scoring in 2-1 wins.
