The 2026 DP World Tour season is set to start next week at the Australian PGA Championship.

Matthew Fitzpatrick’s win in Dubai is not long behind us, but golf does not wait around these days.

Rory McIlroy will participate in the Australian Open, which is the second event of the Tour’s two weeks in Australia.

In anticipation of the upcoming campaign, several players from across the globe have either renewed or joined as members of the DP World Tour.

For 2026, the most notable additions are two recent major winners from America.

Justin Thomas and J.J. Spaun have both signed up for DP World Tour membership ahead of the 2026 season.

They join the top category, which includes Race to Dubai winners between 2018 and 2025, as well as major champions from 2018 to 2026.

The group also includes Rory McIlroy, Francesco Molinari, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Jon Rahm, and Patrick Reed.

The decision by Thomas and Spaun is notable, although it does not guarantee they will participate in multiple DP World Tour events next season.

They join other American members, such as Billy Horschel and Michael Kim, both of whom have openly expressed their enjoyment of the Tour.

Thomas is currently in the middle of a lengthy rehab process after undergoing hip surgery, and he is not expected back in competition for some time.

He has already ruled out the start of the 2026 PGA Tour season, and there is still no clear timetable for when he will be ready to return.

Thomas may have opted to join the DP World Tour as a way to keep options open if his rehab ends up taking longer than first anticipated.

If his absence stretches into April or May, he would have very little time to play enough events before the FedEx Cup Playoffs begin in August.

Thomas might be convinced to play in several DP World Tour events between September and November. This participation could help him recover his form and earn world ranking points.
