Chelsea defender Thiago Silva has posted on his Instagram story that he has ‘major respect’ for Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min, after South Korea were knocked out of the Qatar World Cup by Brazil on Monday.
Even though South Korea did well to reach the knockout stages, they were blown away after 45 minutes of utter brilliance from Brazil, with Tite’s side scoring all four goals in the first half.
Before a ball was kicked at the World Cup, many noted the attacking quality and depth Brazil brought into the competition, and it was all on show in Doha last night.
Whilst it was Brazil’s best performance of the tournament, and probably the best display from any team so far, it was an evening to forget for the South Koreans.
As a whole, they can hold their head up high because they might have been knocked out by the soon-to-be champions of the world.
Many are tipping Brazil to go all the way, but if they do, then they might have to deal with the small matter of beating their South American rivals, Argentina, along the way – that’s if they both get to the semi-finals.
Nonetheless, this was the message Silva sent to Son.

It has been a season of struggle for Son, despite the 30-year-old winning the Golden Boot last time out.
But has the World Cup done his form any good? He struggled for most parts of the group stages and just couldn’t get his engine going, then when it mattered most, he produced the goods.
That stoppage-time assist to beat Portugal and send South Korea to the knockout stages is one that will long in the memories of his fans, as Spurs supporters will be hoping he can bring some of that magic to north London.
