West Ham United star Marko Arnautovic has been linked with a big money move to Manchester United this week.

West Ham fans went into meltdown when news broke that the Red Devils were weighing up a bid for their Hammer of the Year Marko Arnautovic, as reported by Sky Sports

Sky claimed West Ham did not want to sell but added the disclaimer that the club would not consider any less than £50 million.

Arnautovic is a player Jose Mourinho knows well following their time together at Inter Milan.

So when the Manchester United boss was pictured in Innsbruck’s Tivoli-Neu stadium, taking in Austria’s friendly with World Cup hosts, Russia it only fanned the flames of speculation.

Arnautovic started the game and set up the only goal in Austria’s 1-0 win over this summer’s World Cup hosts.

West Ham fans reacted with anger at the prospect of losing their main man, particularly with the club’s season ticket renewal deadline today.

But there was huge relief for Hammers fans when well-placed Italian journalist Gianluca DiMarzio claimed Mourinho was at the game to watch Russian duo Aleksandr Golovin and Fedor Smolov.

The Portuguese manager came up against Golovin (pictured centre) when Manchester United played against CSKA Moscow during the group stages of this season’s Champions League and he was suitably impressed.

Smolov (pictured left), a former West Ham target, was another on Mourinho’s list according to DiMarzio.

Just last week Arnautovic pledged his future to the Hammers, as previously reported on HITC.com.
