TalkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino has shared his concerns about Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez.

The pundit has compared to the current struggles of Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez to the situation of Timo Werner at Chelsea.

The former Chelsea player has noted how Werner struggled during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Despite showing a lot of potential and working really hard, Werner ultimately failed to be a success at the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners.

Cascarino wrote in The Times: “This is a huge summer for Liverpool. Some big names will leave, they need new faces and they’ve got a major issue to resolve: Darwin Núñez.

“He’s had the odd moment where it’s clicked but with Luis Díaz and Diogo Jota back he looks nowhere near the starting XI.

“Cody Gakpo is also ahead of him in the pecking order. I hope I’m wrong but he’s reminding me of Timo Werner at Chelsea — lots of running, effort and promise but ultimately falling short. He needs a big pre-season with lots of goals.”

Liverpool fans should stay positive about Darwin Nunez

In our view, Liverpool fans need not worry about Darwin Nunez.

We do not believe that the striker will be a flop at Liverpool.

Yes, the Uruguay international striker is not banging in the goals for fun at the moment, but he has huge potential.

And Nunez works hard and is always in the game.

The 23-year-old does miss chances, but that he gets them in the first place is encouraging in itself.

Nunez has made 19 starts and 10 substitute appearances in the Premier League for Liverpool this season.

The Uruguayan striker has scored nine goals and given three assists in those games.

The 23-year-old also made five starts and three substitute appearances in the UEFA Champions League for Liverpool this campaign.

Nunez scored four goals in those games.
