Micah Richards has stated that Man City have suffered a ‘major blow’ ahead of their FA Cup semi-final clash against Liverpool, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (13/04/22 at 10:30 pm).
Whilst Liverpool walked away from their second-leg Champions League tie against Benfica, injury-free and their name into the hat for the semi-finals.
Their Premier League title rivals progressed as well at a pretty fiery Wanda Metropolitano, but at the cost of losing Kevin de Bruyne and Kyle Walker to injuries.
If the two are to miss Saturday’s Wembley showdown, then it surely would be a boost for those in Liverpool colours.
Ex-Man City defender, Richards, is certainly worried about the ‘tough’ situation Pep Guardiola is now in.
“This is a major blow ahead of the game against Liverpool at the weekend,” said Richards.
“It’s tough. I don’t want to speculate. Let’s see. It’s tough. I don’t want to determine how long they could be out for.”
Someone like Kyle Walker might just prove to be the biggest miss if they are indeed out for long periods.
Whilst Pep Guardiola has a number of attacking options to pick from, not many have the all-round quality in defence like Walker.
Either way, Liverpool have to target this on Saturday because de Bruyne’s big-game quality could also be a game-changing factor here.
