James Ward-Prowse is reportedly a player on Tottenham’s radar this summer, and interestingly, he’s a player Glenn Hoddle had told Spurs to buy months ago.
Indeed, back in January, Hoddle stated that Spurs need a new midfielder, and he offered Ward-Prowse up as a suggestion.
What did Hoddle think?
Hoddle made a case for Spurs signing Ward-Prowse in the London Evening Standard back in January, and now they’re reportedly after him.
“I am not sure if it is Jose Mourinho’s style of player. They have some decent players there, but Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele are different, they run with the ball, they are holders of the ball. But someone who can hurt you with a pass, a real creative player,” Hoddle wrote
“The lad at Southampton, James Ward-Prowse, would be a major asset. Him and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg would be a nice balance. But I have said it before, I do not think Jose would like him [at Spurs].”

Smart move
Hoddle is a great footballing mind, and it seems as though great minds think alike.
Think about it, Ward-Prowse would be an excellent addition at Spurs. He has so many brilliant attributes and he of course knows how to play alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg after their time together at St Mary’s.
Of course, signing Ward-Prowse is easier said than done, but Tottenham reportedly want to sign him, and if they do, it would be a fantastic addition.
