Liverpool’s Neco Williams has barely played this season, but that hasn’t stopped him from having a big impact for Wales.
Williams has only made three Premier League starts this season, alongside only five starts across other cup competitions.
Jurgen Klopp clearly rates Williams highly, but it’s ultimately difficult for him to start given that Trent Alexander-Arnold is the undoubted starter for the Reds.
The 19-year-old has come in for criticism from some fans this season, but he enjoyed a great night with Wales on Tuesday.
Williams started in an unfamiliar left back role against the Czech Republic, and helped Wales claim a narrow 1-0 win and all three points in their World Cup qualifier.
The Welsh media loved what they saw from Williams, with Wales Online praising him as Wales’ best player in the first half as he was ‘purposeful’ in possession.

Williams was also hailed for ‘majestic’ defending to keep the Czechs at bay, which is exactly what Liverpool are hoping for from their talented teenager.
It may still be some time until Williams can become a starter at Liverpool, and it may never even happen, but at least he is developing well even without regular Premier League game time.
