Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, Tony Adams has been full of praise for Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings.
Adams was reviewing England’s performance against Croatia at Euro 2020, and as you can imagine, the former Three Lions skipper had plenty to say about the centre-backs.
What’s been said?
Adams has been singing the praises of Mings, claiming that he did really well against Croatia.
“I think they did ok, I’m always worried that John goes to sleep every now and then just as he did at the 2018 World Cup, but I’m not going to keep throwing that at him because we all make mistakes. He’s proved himself this season, he had 10 or 15 games with Dias where he was outstanding.
“I thought they did well. Mings is bigger than me, he’s 6 ft 5 and he has a magnificent left foot and I thought he did really well.”

England’s first-choice
After such a solid performance against Croatia, you have to imagine that Stones and Mings are now England’s first-choice centre-back pairing going forward.
Of course, the return of Harry Maguire from injury could affect that, but even if the Manchester United captain returns to fitness, we wouldn’t be surprised if Mings retained his spot.
The Aston Villa man was very impressive against Croatia, and if England are to go far in the Euros, we’ll need to see more of the same.
Fingers crossed Mings can keep this level of performance up over the next month for the Three Lions.
