In a stunning turn of events that has surprised nobody barring Tottenham supporters, Bryan Gil is having a lovely old time with Valencia.

The winger joined the La Liga side on loan in the final days of the January side, and since joining the Valencia, Gil has been a revelation for Jose Bordalas’ side, with the Spanish club last night reaching the Copa del Rey final.

With Spanish publication El Desmarque comparing Gil’s ‘magical’ performance against Athletic Bilbao to one that wouldn’t look out of place in Lionel Messi’s collection, it’s safe to say the on-loan Tottenham playmaker has taken to Valencia like a duck to water.

Indeed, it is not only pundits who have been stunned by Gil’s performances, with Valencia fans going viral last night on social media after a video emerged of hundreds of supporters chanting the youngster’s name.

Gil loan at Valencia looking ever more embarrassing for Tottenham

Gil’s arrival in the summer with Erik Lamela heading the other way was viewed as a transfer masterclass by Fabio Paratici at the time, yet with Tottenham already loaning out the Spaniard just six months into his time in England, his form now for Valencia is making Spurs look foolish.

The creative wide-man has been a revelation for Valencia, bringing flare and technical grace to a club that have been down on their luck for years, and for supporters, Gil is bringing signs of life and hope back to the historic Spanish side.

As for Tottenham, Gil’s form will no doubt be another black stain on the club’s transfer history, which in recent years has been one that has seen millions pumped into the squad only for the next window to undo the mess they have made in the previous one.

Gil’s form for Valencia should be no surprise for neutrals, yet for Tottenham, it is beginning to look like another embarrassing episode for the Premier League club.
