Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil celebrates scoring their third goal
A superb late solo goal from midfielder Mesut Ozil saw Arsenal complete a stunning comeback against Ludogorets and qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League.
The Gunners travelled to Bulgaria on Tuesday evening looking to repeat their 6-0 victory at the Emirates last month.
However, it proved to be a surprisingly tough evening for them as goals from Jonathan Cafu and Claudiu Keseru saw the home side take a commanding lead within 12 minutes.
Arsene Wenger’s side soon struck back, first through Granit Xhaka in the 20th minuted and then Olivier Giroud just before half time to ensure the scores were level at the interval.
It was then Ozil’s turn on the magic again as he went on a surging run past several defenders before finishing coolly to secure all three points for his side.
The result saw them move on to ten points from their first four games in Group A and crucially secure their place in the next round of the competition.
Here are the best images from a tough but ultimately satisfying evening for Arsenal.
