Blackpool winger Josh Bowler is now set to undergo a medical with Nottingham Forest and sign for Steve Cooper’s Premier League squad just a year after he was released by Everton.
Josh Bowler set for Nottingham Forest medical one year after Everton release
According to The Athletic (01/09, 15:00), Josh Bowler will begin a medical with Nottingham Forest in the next few hours, after Steve Cooper’s side agreed terms with Blackpool for the former Everton prospect. The 23-year-old only left Goodison Park a year ago in a free deal.

Cooper has strived to sign Bowler for the past eight months, having first wanted to add the forward in January. But the Seasiders were loath to let the dynamic talent leave Bloomfield Road in mid-season, and will now bank £4m for his services having finally agreed to his fee.

Blackpool continually demanded that Nottingham Forest tabled a substantial offer for the Chertsey native. Even though they risked losing Bowler for free at the end of the 2022/23 campaign, having only handed him a two-year contract after leaving Everton last summer.
Steve Cooper could make Everton regret letting promising talent leave for free
Bowler never broke through to make any senior appearances for the Goodison Park outfit. He enjoyed a solid junior career on Merseyside with six goals and three assists in their U21 side. Yet his form under David Unsworth or on loan to Hull City in ‘19/20 were not enough.

But the 5 ft 8 winger, who can operate on either wing, has proven to have Premier League potential beside the seaside. Bowler has offered Blackpool 10 goals and three assists in 52 outings in all competitions, including two goals in seven Championship games this season.
Everton, then, could now be made to regret letting a young talent Unsworth called ‘magic’ leave Goodison, with the Blackpool star set to sign for Nottingham Forest on deadline day.
