Tottenham Hotspur hero Ossie Ardiles has taken to Twitter in order to react to Spurs’ performance away at Real Madrid on Tuesday night.

Spurs travelled to Madrid in the hope of springing a shock, but given that Real have won three of the last four Champions League finals, few were giving Mauricio Pochettino’s men a chance of picking up a result.

However, Spurs took the lead at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Serge Aurier picking out Harry Kane in the penalty area, and his flick goalwards deflected off Raphael Varane and into the net.

Spurs couldn’t hold out until half time though, as Aurier brought down Toni Kroos inside the penalty area, with Cristiano Ronaldo stepping up to send Hugo Lloris the wrong way.

Kane and Christian Eriksen both had late chances to win the game for Spurs, but given that Lloris had to make a number of fine saves, Pochettino will be pleased with a point.

The result leaves Spurs in a great position; they now lie top of their Champions League group with seven points from three games, and beating Real in the return game at Wembley Stadium would send them through to the knockout stages.

On Wednesday, Spurs legend Ossie Ardles took to Twitter to offer his reaction to the performance, calling the display ‘magic’, admitting that it was a privilege to have been at the Santiago Bernabeu to see such a performance.

Ardiles also sent ‘big, big congratulations’ to compatriot and Spurs manager Pochettino, whilst hailing his players for going toe-to-toe with such a major power of world football.
