Glenn Hoddle has said on BT Sport/ESPN (10:04pm, November 4, 2021) that he did not like Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris making too may saves against Vitesse last night.
What’s the story?
Tottenham got the better of Vitesse 3-2 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last night.
It was Antonio Conte’s first game in charge of Spurs.
Tottenham were actually 3-0 up inside the opening 30 minutes, but the North London club then conceded twice.
Spurs also had Cristian Romero sent off in the second half, while Vitesse ended the Europa Conference League game with nine men.
Glenn Hoddle’s verdict
Tottenham legend Hoddle was following the match for BT Sports.
The Englishman has said that he did not like that French goalkeeper Lloris – who earns £100,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac – had to make important saves.
Hoddle said: “Lloris here has made too many good saves. As I said earlier, you don’t want your keeper being worked against this opposition as much, especially when you are 3-0 up.”

Good point
In our view, Hoddle is right.
Lloris should not have to make the saves that he did against Vitesse last night.
Now, of course, all teams concede chances, but Spurs were dire at the back.
The North London club could have actually lost had Lloris not been at his best between the posts.
