Leeds United threw away a 1-0 lead to lose 2-1 away in the English capital to Tottenham. Yet it was an incident in the first half involving Kalvin Phillips that had supporters talking.

The midfielder, who earns a reported £38,000-a-week, quite literally brought referee Andre Marriner down to the ground after the official got in the way of Phillips.

Whilst the Leeds star was not booked for the hilarious incident, Phillips was eventually booked later in the match as Tottenham came from behind to claim the three points.

The result leaves Leeds a place above the relegation zone by just two points. And after 12 games of the Premier League season, the loss could be pivotal in the long term for the Yorkshire giants.

Indeed, Leeds have bene hit hard with ‘second season syndrome’, yet despite poor results, Marcelo Bielsa’s side have performed well in most matches, including against Tottenham.

The Elland Road club dominated the opening half. Yet despite Dan James scoring for Leeds, it was Phillips’ tackle on the referee that supporters were talking about.
