Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, Duncan Castles has shared Liverpool’s stance on selling Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
It’s no secret that Salah and Mane have had admirers from Spain for some time now, and according to Castles both players have an interest in playing in La Liga.
The journalist claims that Liverpool have made it clear that they’d be open to allowing those players to go if they didn’t want to stay and the financial deals are in place to land them a hefty profit.
“That front three, you’ve got three players who are in their late 20s, you’ve got two in particular in Sadio Mane and Mo Salah who have an interest in playing in Spain before they end their careers, who in normal circumstances at this point would be trying to get moves to Barcelona and Real Madrid with the idea that they’d get huge contracts there and that those clubs would pay substantial transfer fees for them,” Castles said.
“Liverpool, strategically, have made it clear that they’re open to allowing those players to leave if they don’t have the motivation and desire to stay at the club and the financial deals are in place for them to make substantial profits on them and to reinvest in the team.”

This is certainly very interesting to hear.
Liverpool would have a massive job on their hands if they had to replace Salah and Mane, but of course, that would be made a lot easier if they sold them for a hefty profit.
One would expect both players to go for more than they were signed for, with Mane being brought in for £34m, and Salah being signed for just £36.5m
Of course, Liverpool selling them seems to hinge on the financial deals being in place, and with so much uncertainty in terms of finances being brought about by the pandemic, that may not be possible.
This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on in the coming months.
