Leeds United linked playmaker Matias Zaracho is also in the sights of Atletico Madrid and AC Milan, agent Lorenzo di Santis has told MilanNews.

While this 22-year-old playmaker appears to have avoided the ‘new Messi’ tag that weighs down many an Argentine prospect, Zaracho is not short of admirers in some of the biggest leagues in world football.

Even the evergreen Pablo Hernandez cannot go on defying Father Time forever and, according to El Intransigente in July, Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa has identified his fleet-footed compatriot as a replacement for the wizard of West Yorkshire.

Zaracho, who is valued at £23 million, produced five goals and three assists for San Lorenzo in his native Argentina in 2019/20.

And it seems that his defence-splitting abilities have attracted glances from Milan and Madrid too.

“Zaracho is attracting the interest of many European clubs, above all Atletico Madrid, who have made an offer important to him,” Di Santis explains.

“Zaracho is a very interesting player, with a very ‘European’ style. He moves intelligently, with undisputed technical skills. He has innate ability, to carry the ball and dribble.

“Milan are focused on his profile, they like him very much.”

Speculation from South America suggests that Racing are hoping to retain Zaracho until the end of 2020, in the hope that their star man will stick around and contribute to their Copa Libertadores campaign.

But with interest from three of the most passionate footballing cities in Europe, a move across the Atlantic feels like a matter of time.

Remember this name: Mati Zaracho. He is very great,” Inter Milan legend and Racing director Diego Milito told Gazzetta dello Sport last year.

“We know very well that the future of Zaracho will be in Europe, but there is still time before leaving,” he added, in conversation with told Tutto Futbol Sud America.
