Graeme Souness has criticised Portugal goalkeeper and reported Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Diogo Costa on ITV (3:55pm, December 10, 2022) for the goal he conceded against Morocco at the 2022 Qatar World Cup on Saturday evening.

The Liverpool legend, who started his career at Tottenham, was not impressed by the manner in which Costa, linked with a move to Antonio Conte’s Spurs, conceded the goal.

Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri scored for Morocco in their 1-0 win against Portugal in the quarter-finals of the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

The 25-year-old striker found the back of the net in the 42nd minute of the match with a header.

Costa, 23, came for the cross, but he could not control the ball.

The FC Porto goalkeeper should have probably let his defender deal with the cross.

Souness was not impressed by Costa, and you would suspect that not many Tottenham fans will have been encouraged by him either.

90min reported last month that Tottenham are competing with Manchester United for FC Porto and Portugal international goalkeeper Costa.

Tottenham have scouted Costa and have impressed by the Portuguese star, according to the report.

Manchester United are also reported to be interested in the 23-year-old and have been ‘enamoured’ by him.

Souness said about Costa: “Costa, young 23-year-old goalkeeper, 12 games for Portugal, gets it all wrong. The flight up, he clashes into his own player, made a hash of it.”
