Tottenham Hotspur fans are very sceptical over claims that Jose Mourinho is planning to sign Harry Winks from them.
Scepticism around Tottenham
Calcio Mercato has claimed that Roma want to land Winks in January, as they believe that Tottenham midfielder could improve their squad.
Mourinho worked with Winks at Tottenham and initially it seemed that the pair could have a fruitful relationship.
However, as time went by, Winks fell out of favour under the Portuguese boss and ultimately was well down the pecking order at the time he left.
Rumours that Roma are now taking a look at the 25-year-old Tottenham midfielder with Mourinho planning to make a bid have, therefore, shocked Spurs fans.
And it’s fair to say that the latest transfer update in Italy is being treated with a pinch of salt for the time being.
Time to go?
Even if Winks doesn’t end up reuniting with Mourinho at Roma it may be time for him to leave Tottenham.
The England international has never played for another club, and it would be understandable if he wanted to stay and fight for his place.
But, right now, he seems to have a lot to work to do to stand a chance of winning his place back in Tottenham’s team.
Winks has fallen well out of favour under Nuno, with Oliver Skipp consistently being preferred to him now.
And it may be best for both player and club if he moved elsewhere in January, as his chances of landing regular first-team football now look slim.
