Granit Xhaka has posted on Instagram that it was ‘mad’ for him to meet Brazil legend, Rivaldo, during Arsenal’s tour of the USA.
An unbeaten tour, several signings coming in, new and old faces impressing, then ending it with a 4-0 win against Chelsea.
It was a pre-season tour to remember and one that should hold Mikel Arteta’s team in good stead heading into the new Premier League season.
But, it needs to be remembered that all those results become relevant once they are out on that pitch locking horns with Crystal Palace on the opening evening of the new Premier League season in ten days.
Nonetheless, from one left-footer to another, this is what Xhaka posted on his IG about Rivaldo, as he was glad to meet the World Cup winner.
BRAZIL TAKEOVER IN NORTH LONDON
Arsenal have added two Brazilian players to their squad this summer in youngster, Marquinhos, and four-time Premier League winner, Gabriel Jesus.
They join Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Magalhaes in north London, as teammates will need to improvise when calling for their names.
Whilst Marquinhos will be nurtured and will go down the same path as Martinelli when he first arrived, the others could argue that they could be regular starters next season.
Arsenal kick off the Premier League season by making the short trip across London to Crystal Palace – the players will have flashbacks of last season’s defeat.
But, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Gabriel Magalhaes, Martinelli and Jesus all start that fixture because all three have looked outstanding in pre-season.
