Carlos Sanchez congratulated the ‘machine’ Pablo Fornals on Instagram after his Spain side booked their ticket to Qatar for the 2022 World Cup.
Spain recorded a 1-0 win over Sweden on home soil yesterday, with Alvaro Morata scoring the only goal of the game four minutes from time.
When Spain sealed their passage to next year’s World Cup, Fornals reacted on Instagram by stating ‘Let’s gooooo. Great group’.
That’s when ex-Hammer Sanchez simply posted in the comments section ‘congratulations machine’.
Even though Fornals has been outstanding in a West Ham shirt this season, he wasn’t part of the squad that beat Sweden on Sunday evening.
Fornals was in Luis Enrique’s squad that beat Greece last time out, but for one reason or another, was omitted for the deceive game.
There is some serious technical quality in the Spanish squad and Fornals will be well aware that he has his work cut out in order to breakthrough.
But he is doing enough at the London Stadium for him to earn this recent recall and also earn those minutes out on that pitch.
In truth, all he can do is continue to shine bright in East London because he has been one of many standout performers for David Moyes’ side.
What will help Fornals’ case even more is that, if the Hammers can win a trophy at the end of the season or even a Champions League spot, then he can probably guarantee himself that spot to the 2022 World Cup.
