Vurnon Anita made just 18 Championship appearances during a two-year spell at Leeds United – Marcelo Bielsa clearly wasn’t keen.

Eight days after Vurnon Anita’s contract was terminated by Leeds United, a former Dutch international who has played for Ajax and Newcastle United still can’t find a club willing to hand him a fresh start.
Anita looked set to be put out of his misery when Israeli publication Walla claimed last week that he was a target for Maccabi Haifa.
The 12-time title winners recently signed fellow Dutchman Yanic Wildschut and Tjaron Chery, formerly of Norwich City and QPR respectively, and Anita was expected to follow in their footsteps.
But Maccabi Haifa have now come out and made it clear that the 30-year-old is not on his way to Israel. The Green Locomotive have confirmed that Anita is ‘not on our list’ after being asked about the speculation by Sport 1.
So where does the experienced midfielder, who can also play in both full-back positions, go from here?

Given the wealth of top level experience on his CV, plus an always useful ability to play in a variety of defensive positions, you’d think that Anita would not be short of options even after a miserable spell at Leeds which in which he accumulated just 18 Championship appearances.
Not so.
