Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has suggested to The Peterborough Telegraph that Jack Marriott could leave, and this should spark Leeds United into action before Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest make their moves.

According to The Daily Mail, Championship trio Leeds, Wednesday and Forest are interested in signing Marriott from Peterborough in the summer transfer window.

With The Posh having failed to finish in the top six of League One this season, chairman MacAnthony seems resigned to the idea of the 23-year-old striker leaving.

MacAnthony told The Peterborough Telegraph about Marriott: “Jack is the best goal scorer in the Football League at 23 years old. Reality tells us all whats going to happen next.”

Time for Leeds United to make a move

Leeds need to sign a proven goalscorer who can find the target at least 20 times in the Championship in a single season, and they should make a move for Marriott as soon as possible.

With Wednesday and Forest also reported to be interested in the striker, who has scored 27 goals in League One this season, the Whites could face stiff competition if they delay.

MacAnthony’s comments suggest that he is resigned to the idea of losing arguably the best striker in League One this season, and Leeds do not need any more invitation to make their moves.
