Peterborough United seemingly won’t be looking to raid Leeds United.
Peterborough United owner Darragh MacAnthony has taken to Twitter today in order to claim that he doesn’t want Leeds United defender Liam Cooper – and finds targeting Championship players difficult.
The Posh missed out on a play-off place in League One this season, and the seven point gap to the top six means that changes will be coming this summer.
Peterborough have already tied up the signings of goalkeeper Aaron Chapman and defender Rhys Bennett, with manager Steve Evans no doubt looking for more additions this summer.
With star duo Marcus Maddison and Jack Marriott set to leave the club this summer, Peterborough should have funds to bring in new signings, but landing players from the Championship may be a tough ask.
Today, Posh owner Darragh MacAnthony was asked whether he held any interest in players from Leeds United, and he responded by claiming that it’s difficult to sign players from the second tier as they often don’t want to drop down.
MacAnthony suggested that any Championship players would have to value ambition over finances in order to join Peterborough, or else the Posh would look elsewhere.
MacAnthony was then specifically asked whether he would want to sign Leeds United defender Liam Cooper, who is far from popular with fans after a difficult season, but the Irishman stated that he wasn’t a player on Peterborough’s wish list.
