Peterborough United striker Jack Marriott has been linked to both Celtic and Rangers.
Peterborough United owner Darragh MacAnthony has been asked whether Celtic or Rangers are interested in signing the League One club’s red-hot striker Jack Marriott – and he replied by stating neither side could afford the attacker.
Marriott, 23, scored a huge 33 goals in just 56 league and cup encounters for The Posh last season and has unsurprisingly been linked with a whole host of Championship sides ahead of the 2018-19 campaign.
He has even drummed up interest from north of the border, with The Scottish Sun claiming that both Brendan Rodgers and Steven Gerrard’s side have been monitoring the former Luton Town striker.

Twitter-friendly MacAnthony was asked whether Celtic or Rangers were interested in signing Marriott, but MacAnthony delivered a brutal reply, stating that neither Scottish side could pay Marriott’s asking price.
Peterborough Today claimed last month that the third-tier outfit had slapped a £6.5million price tag on Marriott, just £500,000 more than their previous record sale which saw Dwight Gayle move to Crystal Palace in 2013.

Celtic, though, are not particularly in need, with the Scottish champions completing the permanent signing of Odsonne Edouard from Paris Saint-Germain. They also boast Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths up front.
