Everton’s Maarten Stekelenburg was the hero on Saturday at the Etihad.

Everton goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg has joked to BBC Sport that he will ask team-mate Phil Jagielka to buy him dinner after sparing his blushes on two occasions yesterday.
Everton drew 1-1 with Premier League leaders Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
It was an excellent point for Ronald Koeman’s side, especially under the circumstances.

Romelu Lukaku fired the Toffees ahead on 54 minutes, after Stekelenburg saved Kevin De Bruyne’s penalty shortly before the half-time break.
The Dutch goalkeeper repeated his heroics on the 70-minute mark by denying Sergio Aguero from the spot, before Nolito finally opened the scoring for City shortly after.
The man who conceded both penalties was indeed Jagielka, and the former Fulham stopper told BBC Sport that the veteran centre-back owes him a meal to say thank you.

“When you go 1-0 up you hope you can get the three points but I think you have to thankful for a point. It’s not only guesswork for the penalties, you do the analysis as well. Will Phil Jagielka buy me dinner after that? I will ask him!”
Everton are four points off the summit of the Premier League after eight games, leaving Koeman’s troops in fifth position.
