Everton are said to be keen to sign Middlesbrough midfielder Maarten De Roon.
Middlesbrough midfielder Maarten De Roon has refused to rule out a move this summer, when asked about his future by Voetbal Zone.
De Roon has been strongly linked with Everton in recent weeks (Daily Mail), with Ronald Koeman believed to be a big fan of the Dutchman.
And De Roon’s comment suggest that a move away from Boro could occur.
“Of course, you want to play at the highest level so we’re going to see what’s happening in the summer,” he said to Voetbal Zone, when asked about his future.
“But for the time being, I’m just at Middlesbrough and I’ve got a contract.”
Boro are likely to be keen to keep De Roon, as he was one of their better performers this season.
De Roon enjoyed a productive first campaign at the Riverside Stadium, and looked capable of playing in the Premier League.
Unfortunately for the 26-year-old, many of his Boro teammates were unable to perform at the same level as him, which led to their relegation.
Boro ended up finishing in 19th place in the Premier League table, as they made a swift return back to the second tier.
If De Roon was to move to Everton, he would be in competition with the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin, Tom Davies and Idrissa Gueye for a first-team place.
