Just days before the Europa League Quarter-Final between West Ham and Lyon, the French side have got one over on David Moyes.
What’s the story?
Well, after Russia invaded Ukraine, FIFA and UEFA allowed footballers in both countries to move clubs mid-season.
One player who received plenty of attention after that announcement was Shakhtar Donetsk forward Tete.
According to 90min, West Ham, Everton and Southampton were keen to sign the 22-year-old, but they’ve now been beaten to his signature by Lyon.
The Ligue 1 outfit have secured Tete’s services on a deal running until June 30th.
The Brazilian was presented to the media earlier today, alongside Jean-Michel Aulas, Vincent Ponsot and Bruno Cheyrou.
Lyon announced the deal on their official website.
In our view, West Ham and Tete could still cross paths this summer.
As aforesaid, the agreement between Lyon and the South American only runs until June 30th, where his future will then be up in the air.
He has until the end of the season to impress, although it is not believed he is eligible to play in the Europa League.
Tete has already done enough this season to show his quality.
In 28 appearances for Shakhtar, the youngster has scored ten goals, while also providing two assists.
