Lynden Gooch has made 12 first-team appearances for Sunderland this season.
Lynden Gooch has expressed his delight, after making his return to Sunderland training yesterday.
Gooch has been out for a considerable amount of time, after hurting his ankle while representing Sunderland’s development squad.
However, the 21-year-old has made a full recovery now, and came through training unscathed yesterday.
Gooch’s injury came at the worst possible time for the youngster, as he had just started to break into Sunderland’s first-team.
The American international made 12 appearances for the Black Cats over the opening period of the season, but has not played since November.

Whether Gooch will be thrust straight back into first-team life at Sunderland remains to be seen, but David Moyes is known to be a big admirer of the prospect.
Gooch returns to Sunderland’s team, with the Black Cats sitting at the bottom of the Premier League table.
Moyes’ men are next in action in a week’s time, when they take on Tottenham Hotspur at the Stadium of Light.
