Sheffield Wednesday’s Gary Hooper in action with Birmingham’s Andrew Shinnie
Birmingham City midfielder Andrew Shinnie is poised to join Luton Town on loan, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Luton boss Nathan Jones is busy building a squad capable of winning promotion next season after missing out the League Two play-off semi-finals last season and landing Shinnie would be a major coup for the club.
Shinnie spent last season on loan at Hibernian and he helped the club win promotion back to the Scottish Premiership.
The attacking midfielder scored three goals and contributed eight assists in 32 games for Neil Lennon’s side as they won the Scottish Championship.

However, Shinnie has now returned to Birmingham, but he is well down the pecking order in Harry Redknapp’s plans and the Blues boss is ready to send him out on loan again.
A number of clubs have expressed an interest in the former Rangers youngster, but ambitious Luton have moved quickly to agree a deal for the versatile attacker.
Scotland international Shinnie joined Birmingham in 2013 from Inverness Caledonian Thistle, but he has spent the last 18 months out on loan away from St Andrew’s at Rotherham United and Hibs.
