Luke Shaw’s praise of Aston Villa target Axel Tuanzebe shows why Bruce must make loan happen this month

Manchester United starlet and Aston Villa target Axel Tuanzebe has been labelled unbelievable by Luke Shaw.

With Axel Tuanzebe boasting just a handful of appearances for Manchester United’s first team, it is possible that some Aston Villa fans would have wondering whether he was the right player to target this month as Steve Bruce looks to give his squad the quality that he hopes will see them over the line in the promotion race.

The Daily Mail reported last week that the 20-year-old is a loan target for the Villans, who look set to be right in the promotion mix this term with the club currently situated in fourth in the Championship.

But any concerns about Tuanzebe the Villa supporters may have can surely be alleviated by the praise that he has received from United teammate Luke Shaw, in comments reported on the club’s official website.

“I think Axel is unbelievable,” he told the club’s official website.

“I think the talent he’s got is frightening. He’s strong, he’s quick, he’s energetic, he reads the game well, he’s a good passer of the ball, he’s got everything.

“For me, his main position is probably central defender. I think if he nails down one place, it will be central defender. But like I said, he’s got everything and he’s still very young.”

For Tuanzebe to get such high praise off a player as highly-rated as Luke Shaw has been during his career – he arrived at Old Trafford for £27 million in 2014 (via BBC Sport) – surely tells you something about how special a talent his Red Devils teammate could go on to be.

And while a loan deal will not give Villa the chance to see Tuanzebe realise his full potential at Villa, the comments certainly suggest that he will be able to contribute to their promotion push if he does arrive before the end of the window.
