Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Manchester United’s Luke Shaw in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has told The Guardian that he wants to remain at the club.
Shaw has been on the books of United since 2014, but the England international has not even managed 50 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils.
Injuries and fitness have played a big part in Shaw’s struggles at Old Trafford. United manager Jose Mourinho recently criticised the youngster for his lack of commitment and complained about his fitness, as reported by BBC Sport.
The 21-year-old left-back, though, has made it clear that he wants to remain at United and work under Mourinho.
“With the stuff that has been going on it is hard for me to take because deep down that is not me as a person,” Shaw told The Guardian.
“Like Jose said, he wants to see me fighting – and I will fight to the last second because I want to be here for the club. I want to play for the manager and I want to help this team get back to the top.”
No Tottenham Hotspur move?
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Shaw in the summer transfer window. A recent report in The Sun claimed that the England international wants to move to Spurs and wants to play under manager Mauricio Pochettino again.
Shaw, who cost United £27 million – according to BBC Sport – when he moved from Southampton in the summer of 2014 – worked with Pochettino at the Saints.
From the youngster’s comments, it seems that his heart is still at Old Trafford, and that moving to Tottenham would be his second option.
