Luke Rockhold appears to have his eye on a new promotion following his latest appearance.

The former UFC middleweight champion had a busy weekend, starting with an event in Sunrise, California, where he and Colby Covington teamed up to take aim at Bo Nickal ahead of Nickal’s debut.

The next day, Covington picked up a decisive win over Rockhold in the main event and then set his sights on even bigger names for future bouts.

Meanwhile, Rockhold looks set to continue his recent pattern of taking fights across different promotions. In an interview after the bout, he mentioned the possibility of stepping into the Hexagone MMA cage for their next Paris event.

Since his final UFC fight in 2022, Luke Rockhold has stayed active by competing across different promotions and rule sets.

His only win since parting ways with the sport’s top promotion came in 2024 when he stopped Joe Schilling in his Karate Combat debut.

But that result was followed by three straight losses, each under a different banner, with Real American Freestyle being the latest to welcome the former champion.

After getting stopped by Darren Till, it looked like if Rockhold continued fighting, it would likely be under grappling rules rather than striking. But that doesn’t seem to be where he’s headed now.

Luke Rockhold’s reaction after Real American Freestyle loss matches what he said post-fight

After his debut loss, Luke Rockhold posted something on Instagram that matched what he’d said earlier in the week following Real American Freestyle’s event.

Under a post highlighting Colby Covington’s victory, the former UFC champion simply commented, “Happy to help the sport.”

Even though it was another defeat, competing in a discipline where physical damage is minimal while helping raise wrestling’s profile isn’t necessarily a bad outcome for Rockhold.

If Power Slap is next, though, it’s hard to see that move carrying much of the same value at this point in his career.
