Sunderland came agonisingly close to lifting the Checkatrade Trophy at the weekend.

Luke O’Nien has taken to Twitter to suggest he continues to get goosebumps in response to a video showing the Sunderland supporters singing inside Wembley ahead of the Checkatrade Trophy final at the weekend.
Jack Ross’ men suffered an agonising defeat on what will go down as one of the greatest days in the competition’s history. BBC Sport reports that more than 85,000 were inside Wembley as Portsmouth and the Black Cats played out a thriller that went all the way to penalties.
Aiden McGeady had given Sunderland a first-half lead, and the fans may have started dreaming of seeing their side lift the trophy when the final 10 minutes began with the Black Cats still ahead. However, Portsmouth would equalise and then appeared to have one hand on the cup when they went ahead with six minutes of extra-time left.
But McGeady would level things up in the 119th minute to send the game to penalties. Unfortunately, Lee Cattermole was the only player to miss from 12 yards and it was Pompey who were celebrating.

It was a fantastic advert for the Football League, and with both teams right in the mix for promotion to the Championship, it was a day that the clubs will reflect upon extremely positively.
And one video helped outline how incredible the support inside the ground was as Sunderland posted a video showing the fans signing their anthem, Can’t Help Falling In Love, better known to Black Cats fans as ‘Wise Men Say’.

And in response to the video, O’Nien suggested that the sight of the fans signing is one that will stay with him forever, and admitted that he has not stopped watching the clip since the game…
