The Black Cats cult hero and Stadium of Light fan favourite impressed for Jack Ross and co this weekend.

Sunderland ace Luke O’Nien has taken to Twitter with messages for the Black Cats fanbase following the 2-1 win over MK Dons at the Stadium of Light.
Jack Ross and co took the lead in the League One clash when Charlie Wyke’s cut-back set up Max Power to let rip with a fierce 25-yard effort in the 25th minute.
O’Nien had several attempts to double Sunderland’s advantage as one header hit the post, while the other one was thwarted by MK keeper Lee Nicholls.
The 24-year-old was not to be thwarted for a third time as he got behind the opposition defence and lobbed the opposition stopper, his 28th-minute effort coming off the post and going over the line for his first of the season (Transfermarkt).
Sunderland didn’t make it easy for themselves in the second half, however, as Dons man George Williams forced the ball across their goal and Jordan Bowery bundled home, halving the deficit shortly before the hour mark.
Nonetheless, they held firm to secure all three points and, after 10 league fixtures, they now sit 5th in the League One table, not to mention the result being the perfect end to a good week in which they took another Premier League scalp in the League Cup.
Here is O’Nien’s take on the day’s events:
Up next for Sunderland is the League One clash with Lincoln City at Sincil Bank next Saturday.
