Everton have been touted as a potential destination for Manchester United’s struggling forward Wayne Rooney.

Luke Garbutt has admitted to the Liverpool Echo that Wayne Rooney’s return to Everton could be a possibility.
With Rooney’s form at Manchester United starting to dip, question marks are arising over his future at Old Trafford.
Everton has been touted as a potential destination for Rooney, as he started his career at Goodison Park.
And Garbutt appears to think a Rooney return is not completely out of the question.

“If you put him into any team he’s going to improve it. Why wouldn’t you have him back at Everton,” Garbutt questioned. “Stranger things have happened haven’t they?”
As things stand, Everton are the bookies favourites to land Rooney in the January transfer window – but a move looks more likely in the summer.
Whether Everton would be interested in the 30-year-old remains to be seen, but it is a rumour which does not seem to be going away.

Rooney made 77 appearances for Everton as a teenager, and he managed to hit the back of the net on 17 occasions.
If he did return to Everton, he would be competing with the likes of Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku for a place in the first-team.
