Everton’s Luke Garbutt says that Romelu Lukaku never used to like heading the ball.

Luke Garbutt has told the Liverpool Echo that he believes that Everton boss Ronald Koeman has been working hard on getting Romelu Lukaku to increase his aerial threat.
Garbutt has suggested that in his initial time at Everton, Lukaku was not keen on heading the ball.
But this season, the powerful Belgian has been a major threat from crosses.

And Garbutt said: “At the time he wasn’t particularly confident and I don’t know if he was ducking out of the way of headers.
“Because he’s scored a header this season against Sunderland and has had a couple of good opportunities where he’s stuck his head in there; I don’t know whether Koeman has said to him he needs to do more in the air or whatever.
“He used to say to me that heading wasn’t really his strong point.”

Lukaku has already scored a header past Sunderland this season, and his power in the air is now one of his major assets.
The forward has netted five goals in seven games for Everton this term, and looks to have a key part to play for Ronald Koeman’s side.
Garbutt, meanwhile, has found things difficult at Goodison Park in recent years.
The 23-year-old emerged as a promising prospect two years ago, but he has been sent out on loan in the last two seasons and failed to make an impact.
Garbutt is currently on a temporary move at Wigan Athletic, but he has only played three times for the Championship side.
